A week until Christmas. All our gifts are wrapped, there’s the Hobbit to go see and generally, I’m ready. Which is good.
I think it’s the expectation that this time of year should be nuts that puts all the pressure on. This weekend we’re making tamales but for Christmas Day we’ve gone for ready made food via Marks & Spencer. After Thanksgiving we’re kind of bored of turkey.
Of course, this kind of feels like cheating. But mostly it feels great. There will be Doctor Who to watch, all the Harry Potter things to do (Lego video games, watch all the films, listen to the audiobooks), J’s off for two weeks. There’s nothing to stress about. I have to keep telling myself that.
Hogwarts in the snow. Pure magic. Every person who walked through the entry to this room exclaimed in awe. Children and adults, old and young. It was loud and full of laughter and wonder and pure, old fashioned childhood amazement. It was awesome.
I can’t help thinking that’s the whole point anyway.
