Can You OD on Scooby Doo?

I really hope not. Because I seem to be watching nothing but Scooby. Oh, except Kylie. This show is kick ass. I unabashedly love Kylie.

Some Happy Mail:

Sundara Sock

Madeline Tosh DK

From Bertha. Because she’s awesome. She also sent me an Old Navy cardigan.

From Stephanie. This is Mara. Stephanie was knitting it and not feeling the love so she offered to send it to me. And believe me, I am feeling the love here. It’s *lovely*. Thank you, Stephanie!

And some really crap health stuff: had another “probable post-anoxic seizure” in the dentist’s chair. In short, my blood pressure plummeted and I had a seizure. This time though the dentist knew what to do. I got oxygen right away and have now recovered back to a fairly run down normal. I have an EEG appointment later in May to make sure that I don’t have epilepsy or something similar. But it sucks. A lot.

And now I knit. And watch Scooby Doo. Because I can.

Happy Friday.

Plans

This week I am getting better and better at just being. I have Plans, most of which have been brewing for some time only I was too afraid to do anything about them. What if I lose friends? Or feel guilty? What if someone says something mean to me? The fear isn’t gone, I’m just pushing it aside. Who am I if I cannot stand up and say “this is me” loud and clear?

Some of these Plans are online changes (but not disappearances, if I can help it), some offline. I feel good about them. That is a good thing.

Yarn Art

I want to print this and stick it on the wall.

If you’re reading this, welcome. I hope to leave my neuroses in the past and begin again. Phoenixes have something of a habit of re-emerging from the ash, you know.

So. Who are *you*?

A Decisive Monday

Today begins a new week. A week in which I stop doing things that a) bother me, b) take too much time and energy and c) get me down. And since I’m still blogging we can assume that blogging right now doesn’t do any of those things. Which is good.

I would like to move in to several of these shots.

This was a lot harder than I anticipated. It wasn’t just keeping the camera with me and remembering to take pictures all the time. It was eye opening in ways I didn’t expect. I highly recommend it.

Knitting: This week I got my knitting mojo back. Huzzah!

I just realized I never posted a picture of my finished Orange Clapotis.

Orange Clapotis
Orange Clapotis
  • Project: Orange Clapotis (Clapotis #6)
  • Pattern: Clapotis by Kate Gilbert
  • Yarn: Laughing Rat Studio Superwash Merino Sock Yarn, nearly one giant skein (112o yards in the skein)
  • Needles: US 4
  • Mods: Since I was using fingering weight yarn I knit 8 increase repeats and 18 straight repeats.

I’ve also not gotten pictures of that red cowl. If I don’t remember to do it right away it just slips away. Thank you, brain fog.

I managed to get this blanket done in time for the Bonnie Babies challenge:

Nearly done. With my Christmas socks. Yes, it’s nearly May.

Red Trapeze
Red Glow

I have had this pattern since it came out three years ago. It scared me then. It does not scare me now but holy heck, is it a pattern you have to concentrate on. I’ve had to frog the entire front once and tinked back more than I care to count. There’s still a mistake but I wasn’t about to frog it again. You need your wits about you for this one.

Rowan Purelife DK

This yarn will soon be the Lamb’s Lace Cardi for Bertha. Just need to free up a project bag.

And the crocheted blanket was making progress:

Yarn Log

It’s kind of too hot to work on it now. That and I am running low on scraps.

Reading: Still reading The Sound of Paper by Julia Cameron (I’m finally getting around to doing the exercises), Your Money or Your Life by Joe Dominguez and Vicki Robin and Life Interrupted by Laurie Edwards. Sometimes it’s good to have reminders that you’re not alone in all this health related stuff. More on that next week or so.

Listening To: Right now, Starlight by Muse. In general this week it’s been Kylie. Lots of Kylie.

Watching: Scooby Doo (always a favorite). Underworld. Which promptly made both J. and I wish we’d picked a better vampire movie to watch.

Have a good week.

A Happy Accident

On Thursday while driving out to find Montisfont Abbey (closed) we came across this:

Test Walk

Test Walk

It’s an old railway line that runs along the River Test that has been converted to a nature walk that goes on for miles (or kilometers, as you prefer). Back in the days when I could ramble properly we came across a restored old train station near here on one of our walks. Apparently it now serves afternoon tea on Platform 1 in the summer. You can bet we’re going.

Something The Same Again

Health Update: For those of you who wanted to be kept up to date with the whole biopsy thing, I have… no real news. Yesterday morning was my appointment and I was promptly told that my last needle biopsy showed “nothing bad but nothing good either”. (She said they looked for specific markers. Good and bad. My sample had neither marker. What it means beyond that, I don’t know. That I’m a medical freak of nature maybe. But I knew that already.) So I had to have another one done. Did I mention I hate needles? It will be another 6-8 weeks until I see them again. Unless there’s something bad. Let’s all hope it’s nothing bad. Or at the very least, that I have an answer either way next time.

Since this was a bit of a bummer and a half, J. tried to help cheer me up. We got a cream tea at a tea shop named for Lillie Langtry:

Everything Stops For Tea

And we drove around a bit, pictures forthcoming.

Wednesday:

A Week in the Life: Wednesday

Beyond that today is sucking donkey balls through a bendy straw. I am ready for a lot of things to be over already. And once I get some energy back from dealing with the soul sucking stupidity and mind bending exhaustion I hope to start the new things.
