Pretty trees!
We’ll probably go again this year but since this was opening night, it was rather special.
It seems like I caught a chill taking these so I’m glad they turned out as they did.
First of all, there was a lantern procession from the castle to the cathedral:

Winchester Cathedral Christmas Market Opening Night, Lantern Procession.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving/Thursday. Ours was pretty good. After the usual dinner and a brief Skype chat/video thing with my mother (who is a serious goofball) we went out to see New Moon again, as a sort of Thanksgiving treat. And while I will always root for the vampires, Jacob is growing on me.
We’ve got the requisite leftovers too.

Knitting:
Largely things I have not yet taken photos of. A shawl and a cardigan.

Reading: I have finished Little Women and Good Wives (the second half of Little Women) and begun on Little Men. I can never decide which March sister I like best. Meg is lovely and domestic and honest, Jo is the writer, Beth is the sweet, quiet angel and Amy… well, who wouldn’t want to be Amy? She’s beautiful, talented and gets to marry Laurie! So.
Listening To: Actually, Christmas music. I can’t help it, Thanksgiving means I drag out the Harry Connick Jr. and Brian Setzer Orchestra and go to town.
Watching: New Moon. Twice. Garfield and Charlie Brown Thanksgiving specials.
Today’s PSA: For those of you braving Black Friday, I say this: Be nice to your retail monkeys today. It’s a thankless task where you see the worst of humanity to prepare for a holiday that should bring out the best in it. Be the one to say thank you and *mean it*.

Love,
Your own former retail monkey and barista.
Last night:

We use this cooking technique for the turkey and are supplementing this food overload with baked squash a la Pioneer Woman, plain ol’ corn and good ol’ Stovetop. Melissa‘s been kind enough to share her grandmother’s cornbread recipe with me so for Christmas you might see that instead. Oh, and cranberry sauce. And pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. And then we’ll not want to eat for a year. So, you know, it’s a normal Thanksgiving.
